Porter Fire-Rescue

The Town of Porter is located 45 miles east of Chicago along Lake Michigan and I-94 in northern Porter County. Established in 1908, this all-volunteer department now includes 27 members, 10 of whom are rescue divers. PVFD provides Fire, Rescue & BLS non-transport protection to nearly 6,000 residents in the Towns of Porter and Dune Acres.

Engine 910 is the primary engine for structure fires and extrication calls. It responds from PFR's central station at 550 Beam Street.

Upon it's arrival in 2000, this apparatus was dedicated to Chief Lewis Craig, Sr. and
Retired Asstistant Chief Weldon "Peanut" Coslet for their years of selfless, dedicated service to the department.

Engine 911 is typically the second-due pumper for structure fires. However, due to it's smaller turning radius, it is first due to the
Dunes Acres area.

Rescue 930 carries secondary extrication and EMS equipment. This apparatus is scheduled to be replaced
in 2008 with a Ford/Alexis crew-cab Light Rescue.

This unit is certified non-transport BLS and responds first-due for all medical calls.
It is also used to pull the department's boat for water/dive rescue calls.
