Porter County Hazmat

Porter County Hazmat was organized in 1983 by Greg Philips who later became director. In 1987 it officially became Porter County Hazmat with it's headquarters at the Porter County EMA building off of Route 2 just south of Valparaiso. The two paid directors and 17 member team respond to an average of 50 calls per year. Porter County Hazmat will assist any agency with a Hazmat call in IDHS District 1.

Hazmat 8402 and 8401 replaced two older vans in 2005 and carry identical Hazmat Equipment.

Hazmat 8450 runs on every confirmed Hazmat call. It carries various detectors, spill containment equitment, decon showers, extra SCBA's, Level A,B & C Suits, various protective gear, various hand tools, cribbing & clean up equipment.
