Washington Township
Fire-Rescue

The City of Valparaiso is located 55 miles east of Chicago along US-30 & IN-49 in central Porter County. Washington Township was once home to Task Force Tips, a worldwide leader in fire nozzles and equipment until it was annexed by Valparaiso a few years ago. Organized in 1975, the 30 all-volunteer members of WTFR provide Fire, Rescue & BLS non-transport protection to 3,425 residents living in an area of 29.5 square miles. Along with the Valparaiso Fire Dept, WTFR also protects the Porter County Municipal Airport.
