Citizens Committee Fire Department

The Town of Flat Rock is located 25 miles southwest of Indianapolis along I-74 in southern Shelby County. Organized in 1956, the 22members of this all-volunteer department respond to approximately 150 runs each year. FVFD provides Fire, Rescue and First-Responder Medical protection to 55 square miles. Their district includes all of Washington Towship, 1/2 of Jackson Township and a small part of Flat Rock Twp in Bartholomew County that includes 4 miles of I-65.

Engine 31 - 1971 Chevy C60/Howe (#13374) - 300gpm/800gal
This truck was purchased new by the department and has faithfully served as a frontline engine for more than 35 years!
It has now moved to the third-out apparatus on structure fires.

Rescue 31 - 1992 Ford F-350/FD Custom Light Rescue
R-31 includes a wide variety of rescue equipment including a set of Rescue Tek extrication tools.

Engine 32 - 1985 Spartan/FMC Pumper - 1250gpm/750gal
This apparatus was purchased from Bargersville, IN in 2003 and runs as their first-due pumper.
 
TK33 ds
Tanker 33 - 2008 International/Danko - 750gpm/3000gal
TK-33 can also be used as a pumper when needed. It carries two 200ft 1-3/4" crosslays. It also carries four air packs.

Former Tanker 33 - 1952 Diamond T/1980's FD - 150gpm/3000gal
This unique truck started as a military dump truck and then a cement truck before serving as Flat Rock's second-due tanker.
This rig was replaced in November 2008 by the International/Danko shown above.

Tanker 34 - 1985 Ford L/Walker/1995 S&S - 200gpm/2000gal
This rig started its life as a milk truck before the Fire Department had S&S add a pump and convert it to fire use.
 
G31 ds
Grass 31 - 1986 Chevy K30/2008 FD - 100gpm/150gal
This rig previously served the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. If was repainted by the department and a new skid
unit was installed in 2008.

Grass 32 - 1960 Ford F600/FD - 150gpm/800gal
This apparatus served as the department's first truck until 1971. It has since been converted to use as a second-due grass truck.
