Stations 2 & 3

The City of Shelbyville is located 30 miles southwest of Indianapolis along I-74 in central Shelby County. This career department provides
Fire, Tactical Rescue and ALS protection to more than 18,000 residents from it's 3 stations.

STATION 2
Fire Station 2 - 821 E. Michigan Road
This firehouse protects the eastside of town including the busy Michigan Road Commercial corridor. It is home to Ladder 2
and Medic 2.

 Ladder 2 "With This We Conquer " - 2008 Smeal Sirius 105' Aerial Ladder - 2000gpm/500gal
This sharp new truck entered service in February 2009. It replaced a 17-year old KME Pumper and will run as a quint from
Station 2. Ladder 2 is now the primary aerial device for all structure fires in the city with Tower 1 primarily being used for
commercial alarms and fires.

L-2 is equipped with a portable winch in the bumper w/ anchor points on all 4 sides of the rig for it's use. Running as a Quint,
this rig also includes a 100ft trash line in the front bumper, TnT extrication tools for use on I-74, an ALS EMS compartment
in the cab and a 1250gpm remote-control deck gun on officers side and at the aerial tip.

Reserve Engine 2 - 1992 KME Renegade Pumper (#1356) - 1250gpm/750gal
Former Engine 2 served the department faithfully for 17 years and was replaced in February 2009 with the Smeal Quint above.

Engine 2 is shown here is front of old Station 1. A new, much larger and more efficient building was completed in October 2006.

Shelbyville Station 3

Shelbyville Fire Station 3 - 1350 W. McKay Road at IN-44
Station 3 may be the most unique firehouse in the state. Completed in 1985, this project was jointly commissioned
by a Federal Grant for the City's Water and Fire Departments and was planned from the start as a fire station. Engine 3
never lacks for a water supply with nearly 1,000,000 gallons stored above their heads!
