Santa Claus Volunteer
Fire Department

The magical town of Santa Claus can be found in Spencer County, just seven miles south of Interstate 64. A visit to this town will make you believe it is Christmas, no matter the time of year. The Santa Claus Volunteer Fire Department and its twenty members cover twenty-square miles from the Town Hall annex on
North Holiday Boulevard.

The department's first piece of fire apparatus still responds first out the door. During the construction process,
Pierce employees suggested naming the apparatus to reflect the town's unique identity. Department officials loved the idea
and the yellow rig was delivered as "Rudolph" complete with a red flashing nose on the hood.

Engine 4 - 1993 Pierce Dash - 1250gpm/1000gal

When the department chose Pierce to build their second pumper, all of those involved again brought up the idea
of naming the apparatus. The solid red 1993 Dash was fittingly delivered as "Dasher."

Code 3 Dasher

In December 2006, Code 3 Collectibles released a highly-detailed, limited edition Holiday Release of a 1/64
model of Dasher.

Although not as festive, the Santa Claus Volunteer Fire Department also operates a 1981 International/Bluegrass tanker
and a 1986 Ford brush unit.

Appreciation is extended to Chief Edward Hagedorn and Pete Linne for providing information
and assisting with photographs.
