Clay Fire Territory - Station 1

The Clay Fire Territory is located along the Michigan state
border just north of South Bend in St. Joseph County. CFT protects 70 square miles, including the town of Roseland, the town of Indian Village, Clay and German Townships. Clay Fire's current staffing includes 34 full-time personnel with an additional 40 on-call volunteers. Clay Fire responds to more than 2,500 Fire, Rescue, and EMS calls from 3 fire stations and protects nearly 45,000 residents.

Station 1 was completed in 2001 at Cleveland and Emmons Road. It is located just behind the old Station 1 which had
served the department since it first began in 1949. Station 1 serves as FD Headquarters and is home to 6 apparatus.

Squad 241 is the first due engine company from Station 1. It's equipment includes a full array of extrication tools as well as
a Harrison 20 Kw Hydraulic light tower on the cab for night incidents.

Truck 291 is the department's Ladder Company and responds to all structure fires.

Engine 249 served as the second-out engine from Station 1 and also fills in as a reserve engine as needed. It is scheduled
to be sold in 2008 and replaced with a nearly identical 1985 Pierce that previously served German Township.

CV-1 is shown setup during training exercises. This vehicle can respond throughout northern Indiana as part of a MABAS
system for large or potentially hazardous incidents.
