Station 2

Penn Township is located 95 miles east of Chicago and 140 miles north of Indianapolis in eastern St. Joseph County. Penn Twp is just east of South Bend and essentially surrounds the City of Mishawaka. 4 stations provide Fire, Rescue and BLS protection to nearly 65,000 residents. PTFD is a combination department with full-time members at each location supplemented by volunteers for larger incidents.

Station 2 - 13750 McKinley Highway
Station 2 is home to three PTFD apparatus along with SBFD Ambulance 12 and the department's boats.
This busy stretch of road between Mishawaka and Elkhart leads to a fair amount of extrication calls from this station.

Shown here with it's former Penn North 1361 designation, 2162 is first due for all accidents from station 2. Equipped with
a cascade system, 2162 can also refill air bottles on-scene and serves as a rehab unit when needed.

South Bend Fire Department - Medic 12 - 2004 Intl 4300/Med-Tec
SBFD Medic 12 is located at Station 2 and responds to most of the Penn Township's district for all EMS calls. It is one of
three "county" ALS Ambulances run by full-time SBFD personnel.
