South Bend is Indiana's fourth largest city. It is located in between
Ft. Wayne and Chicago along I-90 and the Michigan state line. Founded as a full-time depmartment in 1887, South Bend Fire Department now includes 248 firefighters and 11 fire stations. Together they provide Fire, Tactical Rescue, Hazmat and ALS protection to 107,000+ residents in St. Joseph County.

This apparatus formerly served as Truck 1 until being reassigned in 2005. Tower 6 is the only tower/platform ladder in the fleet.
The other ladder companies at Stations 1, 3, and 7 are all Pierce Arrow 105' rear-mount sticks that are designated as Quints.

Station 7 was originally built as an "L" shaped single-engine house. When a ladder was moved there, the station was expanded with
a second bay and more living space that separates this unique split-bay firehouse.Engine 7 and Quint 7 call this station home.
