South Bend is Indiana's fourth largest city. It is located in between
Ft. Wayne and Chicago along I-90 and the Michigan state line. Founded as a full-time department in 1887, South Bend Fire Department now includes 248 firefighters and 11 fire stations. Together they provide Fire, Tactical Rescue, Hazmat and ALS protection to 107,000+ residents in St. Joseph County.

This SBFD trailer hauls tools, wood and additional tactical equipment necessary for trench and confined space rescue.

Unit 143 - 1995 Chevy Suburban with Boat 1 - Smoker Craft with Outboard jet drive
SBFD runs two separate rescue boats for Top Water and Dive Rescue within the city of South Bend. The boat from Station
1 is pulled by a former Battalion vehicle, Unit 143.
