Thunderbird Fire Protection Territory
Farmersburg is located along IN-41 along the Indiana/Illinois border
in in northern Sullivan County. The Thunderbird Fire Protection Territory was formed in 2000 combining Farmersburg VFD and Curry Twp VFD. Named for a former mine in the area, the all-volunteer department includes 27 members who respond from two stations. Thunderbird provides Fire Rescue and BLS protection to 2,800 residents and 36 square miles.

Tanker 71 - 2007 Sterling Acterra/Rocket Fire/1998 local - 500gpm/3000gal
The tank on this truck was originally built on a Mack R chassis. Rocket Fire is a smaller company in central Illinois who mounted the pump on the chassis. The tank transfer was done in nearby Linton IN. This rig originally served Curry Twp. |
