First started in 1963, Purdue University is the only school in the Big Ten Conference that provides it's own primary Fire,
Rescue, Hazmat and EMS protection. The department currently has 27 full-time personnel in addition to the Chief of the
Department. Due to the large number of laboratories and research facilities on campus, each firefighter is a trained
as a Hazardous Materials Technician

Amongst it's various equipment, this sharp truck includes a 10kw Onan hydraulic generator and twin 20 gallon
Class A & B foam cells. Engine 11 responds to all fire calls along with Tower 12. It is second-due behind Squad 14
on extrication and rescue calls.

Squad 14 was originally purchased as a quick-response mini-pumper. However, after having several pump issues,
Purdue University removed the pump and extra water tanks on top of the body. These were replaced with a customized
compartment to carry the deparment's extrication equipment.Squad 14 runs on EMS calls requiring manpower as well
as all extrications, rescues, and fires.

Purdue University runs a small airport on the southwest side of campus where this unit is stationed.
When larger charter flights are scheduled, additional FF's are summoned to staff this rig in case of an incident.
