Tipton Fire Department

The City of Tipton is located 35 miles north of Indianapolis in central Tipton County along IN-28. The department includes 4 full-time FF's who respond to Rescue, Fire and BLS calls from the central station downtown. If a larger incident occurs, additional full-time personnel are called in to respond with additional apparatus. Tipton protects the City of Tipton including 6 square miles and approximately 5,200 residents.

The Headquarters is part of a Municipal Building that also includes the Police Department and Small Claims Couty.
Headquarters houses 5 apparatus.

Engine 11 is first due for BLS and Fire calls. It is staffed by 3-4 personnel.

This truck was purchased from Washington Township Fire Department in Indianapolis around 1990-1991.
Tipton did not repaint it's original yellow color to match it's other apparatus.

This unique apparatus is a growing trend among smaller departments. This rig's compartments include various rescue equipment
including a set of Phoenix extrication tools and cribbing. Rescue 15 is currently first due on all Rescue calls. Once approved by
the city, the department hopes to run it as a transporting BLS ambulance in addition to it's rescue capability.

E12 was one of the last pumpers off the line when the nearby FMC Fire Apparatus plant closed in 1983. This rig was refurbished
in 2000 by RPI. E12 is second due on structure fires and can serve as the department's reserve engine.
