Perry Township Fire Department
Station 2

Perry Township is located on the west side of Evansville in western Vanderburgh County. The Township is surrounded on 3 sides by the winding Ohio River. Established in 1959, this all-volunteer department includes 45 personnel and 12 apparatus that respond from 2 stations. PTFD provides Fire, Rescue, Water Rescue and Medical First-Response protection to the residents of Perry and Union Townships.

Completed in 1970, Station 2 is located at Hogue Street and Williams Drive. It is home to Ladder 1, Engines 4 & 5,
Rescues 6 and 8 and Brush 6.

This former E-One demo unit was purchased by the department in December 1997 and serves as the department's Aerial.

This unique rig was designed to maximize equipment and efficiency. The two-man cab was chosen for this unique rig to maximize the rigs equipment and capabilities while fitting into their short station. 7 Rescue 5's equipment includes a Harrison 15kW PTO generator and Command Light. Note the three, separate and angled light bars on the roof

Several of the crew on the apparatus committe were familiar with this style of chassis due to their work in sanitation,
hence "Oscar the Grouch" on the front of the Mack MR cab.

This well-worn truck was replaced by the 2007 Mack MR/Ferrara above. It previously carried
Amkus System with cutters, spreader and a medium Ram along with electric and battery Saws-all, vent saw and a chain saw.

This truck is used as a medical quick-response and Chief's vehicle. It is also used to pull Water 2 as shown below.

 
Water Rescue
Rescue 8 is setup to pull Water 2 to various water rescue scenes.

This sharp water craft was purchased from the Ohio River Valley Search & Rescue in 2005. It provides quick response and
a stable platform for top water/river rescues as well as search and recovery efforts.

Engine 3 - 1975 Ford C/Pierce Pumper - 1000gpm/750gal
This rig formerly served as Engine 1 and now serves as the third-out pumper and primary reserve engine.

Former Rescue 6 - 1992 Ford E-350/Osage Type II Ambulance
This apparatus was purchased from AMR in 2000 and was replaced by Rescue 6 in 2006.
 
 
A third station is planned to be built on land located at Old Henderson Road near King Road in Rahm, IN. Perry Township is contracted to provide fire protection to this portion of Union Twp. There has been a single engine kept in a barn in the area for mroe than a decade. However, nearly the entire township is in the Ohio River floodplain, and getting anything permanent structures built in the area has to go through the Army Corp of Engineers.
