Terre Haute Fire Department Stations 2-5 - "Bring The Heat!"
The City of Terre Haute is located 88 miles west
of Indianapolis along I-70 near the Illinois state border in
Vigo County. THFD's career department includes 8 Stations that provide Fire, Rescue, Hazmat & ALS protection to 60,000
residents and over 31 square miles.
Terre Haute Fire Department Station 2 - College Avenue - Near Southside
Station 1 serves as THFD headquarters and maintenance facility but houses no apparatus.
Station 2 (above) is located
in the south-central part of the city. It is home to Engine 2 and Reserve Medic 1.
Engine 2 - 2000 Smeal Rescue Pumper - 1500gpm Waterous pump/500gal
Engine 2 is designated as one of two "Extrication Companies." It responds as
the second due company to any
extrication incidents on the south side of town. Engine 3 has the same responsibiltiy
to the north.

Reserve Medic 1 - 2000 Ford E-450/McCoy Miller ALS Ambulance Terre Haute runs three full-time ALS Ambulances from Stations 7, 8, & 9. However, on the rare occasion that all three units are
already busy, 3 crew members from Engine 2 jump on this reserve rig and make runs as needed.
Terre Haute Fire Department Station 3 - North 13th Avenue
Engine Company 3 has protected the near northside since 1884. This single-engine house has a very short drive right onto
a busy north-south throughfare just northeast of downtown and the ISU campus.
Engine 3 - 2002 Smeal Rescue Pumper 1500gpm Waterous Pump/750gal In addition to protecting the near-northside, Engine 3 serves as the northside Extrication Company and runs throughout
the northern districts for auto accidents and entrapments. A unique diamond-plate windguard was fabricated for the top of
this rig after another engine lost its entire hose complement while traveling along I-70!
Terre Haute Fire Department - Station 5 - Downtown Terre Haute Located in the heart of downtown, Station 5 is home to Ladder 5 and the Tactical
Rescue Truck
Ladder 5 - 2005 KME Predator 100' Mid-mount Aerialcat Platform - 2000gpm/300gal
This truck went into service in June 2006 after serving as a show truck at FDIC 2006. Ladder 5 responds.from Station 5
in
downtown Terre Haute. It serves as the primary
ladder company for all fires and incidents north of Wabash Avenue.
