The City of Terre Haute is located 88 miles west
of Indianapolis along I-70 near the Illinois state border in
Vigo County. THFD's career department includes 8 Stations that provide Fire, Rescue, Hazmat & ALS protection to 60,000
residents and over 31 square miles. |

Station 8 is home to Medic, Ladder and Tanker 8 |

Ladder 8 - 2003 Smeal/LTI 75' Rear-mount ladder - 1500gpm/300gal
Ladder 8 responds to the east side. It serves as the primary ladder company
for all fires and incidents south of Wabash Ave.
While the rig is capable of acting as either an engine or ladder, the staffing
and training is for ladder company duties primarily. |

Tanker 8 is the department's only tanker truck. It responds to the more rural areas recently incorporated on the city's east side. |

Terre Haute Fire Department Station 9 - West Margaret Avenue - Southwest
Station 9 serves as the department's Hazardous Materials Station. It is home to Engine 9, Medic 9, Unit 9-11, three tactical
equipment trailers and a reserve medic. |

Task Force 7 - 2006 Ford F-550 - Tactical Haz-mat Truck
Station 9 is home to Task Force 7, the regional Hazardous Materials Team for west central Indiana. Homeland Security
provided the grant for this truck and a matching dual-axle, command & equipment trailer. Task Force 7 is fully equipped to
tackle spill containment and Hazardous Materials incidents of all types. |

Terre Haute's leadership structure is fairly small. The Fire
Chief is supported by one Shift Commander (Battalion Chief) that is in
charge of all stations each shift. There is a Captain for each ladder truck
and Lieutenants for each other apparatus. |
