Volunteer Fire Department

The Town of Chandler is located 9 miles east of Evansville along IN-62 in central Warrick County. Organized in 1952, the Chandler Volunteer Fire Department provides Fire, Rescue and Medical First Responder protection to 7,100 residents and 21 square miles. Their response area includes the Town of Chandler and portions of Ohio, Campbell and Boon Townships.

Squad 23 is owned by the town of Chandler. It is the first truck to roll on 10-50 PI auto accidents, and is the second truck out on
alarms, investigations, and structure fires. It carries 1000' of 5” supply hose, and 500' of 2.5” supply hose The truck is equipped
with a portable cascade system that can be used at the fire scene to fill SCBA air bottles. Squad 23 also carries Amkus hydraulic
Rescue Extrication Equipment including two short rams, two long rams, cutters and spreaders. This truck also has a set of airbags
used in confined space rescue and a foam nozzle and liquid for foam capabilites in use with either engine.

Owned by Ohio Township, this truck is first on all brush and field fires and includes a variety of firefighting hand tools..

Owned by Ohio Township, this truck served as the department's brush truck until 2002. It now serves as a general purpose
vehicle for 10-50 cleanup runs, equipment and personnel transportation. Squad 24 also serves as a track safety truck at the
Chandler Motor Speedway.

The Brushfighter is owned by Ohio Township and is used on brush and field fires. This comes in handy because portions of
CVFD's rural township coverage area include strip mine, fields and other hard-to-access places. This ATV was custom built by
a previous member of the department and the father of a current member. It has front and rear frame mounted stainless steel water
tanks with a collective capacity of 30 gallons. To compliment the tanks, there is a 5 GPM on demand 12 volt DC water pump. The
tanks and wheels are powder-coated for extra protection. 35' of 5/8 industrial grade garden hose is mounted to the frame. It also
has a battery tender charging system, front fog lamps, a removable red revolving light, and a 2000 Warn winch.

E-21 was owned by the town. This was the first truck to roll on all alarms, investigations, and structure fires within the town
limits. Engine 21 carried a 24 ft. extension ladder, 14 ft. roof ladder, and a 10 ft. attic ladder, as well as a 150 volt generator.
It also carried two 150 ft. crosslay lines, 200 ft. of 1.5” attack line, 1000 ft. of 2.5” supply line, and 200 ft. of 2.5” preconnect.

Engine 22 was owned by the township. This truck rolls first on all alarms, investigations, and structure fires outside the town limits.
It is also first to respond to mutual aid calls with neighboring departments. Engine 22 carries a 35 ft. extension ladder, 14 ft.
roof ladder, and a 10 ft. attic ladder, as well as a 3500 watt generator. It carries two 150 ft. crosslay lines, 250 ft. of 1.5 inch
attack hose, 800 ft. of 2.5 inch supply hose, and 900 ft. of 5 inch supply hose.
 
Lil
Lil' Squirt was created by department personnel and is used for public events and parades to help promote fire safety.
