Stations 1 & 2

The City of Richmond is located 73 miles east of Indianapolis along I-70 at the Ohio border. Established in 1872, this career department includes 81 personnel responding from 6 fire stations. RFD provides Fire, Tactical Rescue, Hazmat and ALS Protection to 37,000 residents and 62 square miles including Richmond and surrounding areas of Wayne County.

Station 1
Station 1 - Richmond Fire Department Headquarters - 101 S. 5th Street
Located on the west side of downtown Richmond, Station 1 is home to Engine, Rescue & Squad 1 along with the Command 21.

Rescue 1 responds to all extrications and tactical rescues in addition to lighting and air support at working fires.

Engine 1 runs as a quint, with it's own first due district (downtown) and also serves as the department's primary ladder company.

Squad 1 - 2003 Ford/Med-Tec ALS Ambulance
Squad 1 - 2002 Ford E-450/Braun BLS Ambulance
Squad 1 is RFD's only Ambulance. It is the busiest apparatus in the city. It includes it's own primary BLS response area and also
responds on structure fires and major accidents throughout RFD's district. Rural/Metro provide local ALS service and provides
ALS/BLS transport throughout the remainder of the city and surrounding areas.

Truck 2 - 1987 Duplex/LTI 100ft rear-mount Aerial Tower - 1500gpm/250gal
While primarily a reserve apparatus, Truck 2 can be brought into service whenever a large structure fire requires
additional aerial assistance. It is kept at Station 1.
 
Richmond Station 2
Station 2 is located just off IN-27 on the north side of Richmond and is the first due response to most
Interstate 70 accidents and fires. Engine 2 carries some light extrication equipment until Rescue 1 arrives.

Most of Richmond's Pierce engines look alike with similar setups at Engines 2,4,5 and 6.

Unit 27 shares quarters with Engine 2 on the northside. Stations 2 and 4 are nearly identical with twin Engines and
similar grass rigs at each station.
