Churubusco/Smith Township Volunteer Fire Department

The town of Churubusco is located 12 miles northwest of Fort Wayne at the intersection of US-33 and IN-205 in northeastern Whitley County. The 30 members of this all-volunteer department have provided Fire, Rescue & BLS non-transport protection to the residents of Smith Township Whitley County, the Town of Churubusco, the southern half of Green Township in Noble County and the western half of Eel River Township in Allen County since 1867. Because of our unique location, our department cover about 100 square miles. ALS Service is provided by Whitley County EMS which houses Medic 21 in our station as well.

Pump 201

Pump 201 - 2003 Pierce Enforcer Rescue Pumper - 1500gpm/1000gal
Pump 201 is the first out apparatus for all fire runs in the Town and first out for all Motor Vehicle Accidents. The equipment list for
this apparatus includes a 10 kW Hydraulic Generator, 3000 Watt light tower, 2 sets of Holmatro extrication tools, on-board Class
A and B Husky Foam System and a Argus 3 Thermal Imaging Camera. Pump 201 is also the first Custom Cab pparatus purchased
by the department.

 

Pump 203

Pump 203 - 1991 International S&S / Pumper/Tanker - 1500gpm/3000gal
One of the larger non-aerial trucks in Northeast Indiana, Pump 203 comes in at about 38' long. It is first out for all fires in the
non-hydranted areas.

 
Tanker 204

Tank 204 - 1997 International/1998 Semo Tanker - 1000gpm/2500gal
While it runs primarily as a water supply tanker, Tank 204 can also serve as a second pump at rural fire scenes. It is second-out
for all fires in the non-hydranted areas.

Rescue 208

Rescue 208 - 1979 Chevrolet C-350/Stahl
Rescue 208 responds second-due to all vehicle accidents. This apparatus can carry up to 6 personnel and carries a Lukas hydraulic
extrication tool set, a 3,600psi cascade system and other misc. equipment. This truck is scheduled to be repalced in the fall of 2008.

 
Pump 209 ds

Grass 209 - 2006 Ford F-350 Super Duty/FD Custom  - 250gpm/250gal UPF skid unit
Grass 209 is the first out apparatus for brush, grass, field and vehicle fires within the district. It is also first out for all First Responder
runs as it carries a BLS Med-Bag and AED.
